Projects

The first project was about recording sounds in order to use/present it in a certain form. I went to an ice hockey match. I thought I'd hear more game not the fan zone, but sitting IN the fan zone it's not possible. Nevertheless, I changed the concept after listening to the whole recording. I decided to make a melody/sound based on the noises from the hall but they'll be so edited that their origin will be unrecognisable. I wonder it's going to be!

The second project will be based on this device, which is a part of exhibition in Copernicus Science Centre in Warsaw. We're going to use sensors and program them to play top music from different countries within last decade. User will be able to choose himself the year and the country, then as an equation music will be played.

Invisible instrument

Today I was trying to find some examples of people playing "invisible instruments". Well, I found Rowan Atkinson's performance at the very beginning ^^"

What I really wanted to find was Theremin instrument and I found a gorgeous combination of Theremin and electric Kantele, it's really appealing! Take a look!!
Theremin was invented by Léon Theremin from Russia in 1928. "The instrument's controlling section usually consists of two metal antennas which sense the relative position of the thereminist's hands and control oscillators for frequency with one hand, and amplitude (volume) with the other. The electric signals from the theremin are amplified and sent to a loudspeaker." (wikipedia)

Old-new finding

I'm talking about Jean-Michel Jarre. I've known him for ages, not particulary my gender... ok, not my gender at all, but he does really amazing performances using some technology, out-of-the-world instruments, lasers, fireworks, etc. etc. etc. It must be a gorgeous experience to take part in his concert. Alas, although he were in my homeland a couple of times, I've never seen him live :\\ It's not the same like on TV. Watch this video to see what I'm talking about :)

Creative or not

Today some examples of songs that may be felt in different way. It's always so personal what it comes down to music reception. Also it's meant to show on what purposed music may be presented and what feelings it may evoke.

At first something that brings me to Lordi, first heavy metal that I had ever heard in my early teens:

Now a little bit other kind of performance:

And how totally different can be the show when there is no vocalist:

Something only to listen now. Just to show that your imagination is also working and you don't really need to see the performance (because it's the band who creates the image you see), now close your mind and focus on the pictures you see. Me? I'm scared of the pictures I see listening to this song and I love it!

On the contrary.... Something that I don't feel totally. Something that's completely flat. Songs that last hardly one summer holidays, what's more, the majority of "fans" doesn't even bother to translate the lyrics in some cases.

Well... listening to the last "songs" left me without words

Some reseach at first

Oh well, here we are. I've never met with sensors, so I tried reading on wikipedia a little bit... "A sensor is a converter that measures a physical quantity and converts it into a signal which can be read by an observer or by an (today mostly electronic) instrument. For example, a mercury-in-glass thermometer converts the measured temperature into expansion and contraction of a liquid which can be read on a calibrated glass tube. A thermocouple converts temperature to an output voltage which can be read by a voltmeter. For accuracy, most sensors are calibrated against known standards." it began, but it sounds more like black magic or whatever.

Hehe, when you type "sensored sound" on google, you'll find "censored sound" and it's really NOT what I'm looking for, but on youtube I found something that looks quite interesting:
Seems like the lights are behaving according to what the music plays. That's a really nice thing!

Or this used as part of car tuning.

Here how it works with different music:

They even produce T-shirts with it. I'd never expect! Though not that much surprising

But this is amazing!! I stopped seeing the building at some point!

At this point I'm wondering if there is something else that sound can control OR how the sound can be controlled. Not sure if it's about this, but simple wondering :)
